Estyn inspection
The period during and leading up to an Estyn inspection can be a difficult one for teachers.
We receive a number of enquiries from members asking what needs to be done or what is not expected from the inspectorate.
In all discussions the 'Inspection myths: busted!' section of the Estyn website is extremely useful.
Note the clear and unambiguous guidance, such as:
- teachers don't have to write a detailed lesson plan for every lesson to give to the inspector
- teachers don’t receive a grade for each lesson that the inspectors observe, but they will have the opportunity to engage in professional dialogue with inspectors
